The DRAM crisis is expected to hit the smartphone market hard next year – mid-range smartphones are likely to be equipped with only 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM, while flagship models are expected to become more expensive. In turn, this is likely to have a negative impact on sales of Apple iPhones, Samsung Galaxies and other devices.

the world doesn't revolve around you, genius. there are people every year getting their first smartphones or upgrading as people age and this will affect them and their budgets. decenter yourself, there are billions out there affected by corporate price gouging.

In anticipation, I jumped on a brand new S24 Ultra for 65% discount that will tie me over until hopefully the AI bubble implodes and I start looking in about 4-5 years for an update.

Oh, really? So people will buy cheaper or recycled phones. What a tragedy to humanity. Human lives really do not revolve around phones every year. Many people already said, two year cycle of new models would be enough. But bussiness is bussines and stakeholders are stakeholders. So, please, stop being wiseass and calm down, Mother Theresa.

I care. My phone is 2.5 yo. I was planning to buy a new one next year because I've experienced with previous phones problems between the 3rd and 4th year. So I have to do a choice, replace now a phone which is fine or take the risk to wait 2 years (with no guarantee that the situation will be better).

Buying next year is not an option : the price of used phones / previous gen phones will go up due to a higher demand. The cheapest the phone, the higher the impact on price will be.
