Many details about the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the Galaxy S26 Plus and compact Galaxy S26 are already known at this point, so it is time to compare them with their predecessors. A leaker is sending a clear message to Samsung fans around the world, because the upgrades will probably not be major in most cases.

That's because NanoSIM cards are smaller than microSD cards (let alone regular SD as you mentioned, even though no Android phones use it), and they made the slot dual-sided so two of them can stack together.

We could've seen memory cards in the size of NanoSIM if Huawei didn't keep it all to themselves.

Ok, why not use the same slot as in S23? There wasn't any problem.
Anyway, it's probably still possible to connect an SD Card Reader and wired headphones via USB though.

Amoled 1-120Hz display means it will be flickering in intensity (VRR, Refresh, Scan, PWM) and perhaps FRC. The phone body borders are still sharp for hands, hopefully a silicon case will make it better.
The hw is almost copied year to year. Only slight improvements if I don't count the removed micro SD card slot and the phone jack.

Are you only getting into Galaxy phones for the first time? We haven't had a headphone jack or microSD support for years now. Since the S20 line and the S9 lines respectively (S20 for SD card, S9 for headphone jack).

:-) not really, I still have an S9 and I'm kind of looking for a newer model.
You're right, I didn't know that the S21 and S22 didn't have an SD card slot (btw, the S20 had one).

I'm still using my note 20 ultra because the newer phones don't have a sim card. If Samsung doesn't put it in the S26 Ultra, I have to switch to another company. This is a privacy issue. I WILL NOT put my information on their cloud servers for them to exploit. We have given up enough privacy with technology.

I wouldn't be surprised if they would go with eSIM-only route, but anything from S21 and newer, so far, still has a SIM card slot.

S25 and S26 have faster camera, but much worse quality than the old S9, too noisy image and blurry (they probably wanted less depth of field) :-(
Also much worse sound quality from the speakers :-(
Cameras have been the same for several years :-(
Local AI only in a few languages.
All this for 2x the S9 price.

The camera zoom in OneUI is also not good. It does not allow you to zoom with one lens only, it constantly switches between them and because the cameras are not in one place physically, the image moves when zooming and you lose the frame and focus. It is also not possible to use zoom in selfie mode at all. When taking a photo, the LED always turns off, so you can't take a photo in a dark room - you simply can't use it as a light. Too bad. Chinese phones are better.

Samsung is declining.
