The new ThinkPad T16 Gen 4 AMD left a good overall impression in our review. The situation is a bit mixed for the display, because the 1080p screen does not consume a lot of power, but it is only a 60 Hz screen and there is no option for a 120 Hz panel.

I don't think this is a laptop for excel sheets, but rather for coding?

I have recently ordered a top version of T14 with AMD, I absolutely loved the build, but I had to return it, as I got a literal pain in the eyes from trying do code on an 1080p screen. I don't mind 60hz, that much, although 120hz feels much better, but 1080p is just not acceptable in 2025.

I think the real goal is that many business laptops are expensive by default so cutting costs on the screen can be lucrative for a company. Business laptops were last to get rid of 768p screens. Most aren't even used as laptops but as Minipc with a battery. The screen is just there if they happen to go on vacation/business trip and need to check stuff on it.

Yeah. I have the T14 gen 5 with the 2880x1800 OLED. It's a great screen for work. I run it at 125% so effectively about 2304x1440. Downside is it murders battery life, and maybe need to be a little aware of burnin risk.

Yeah, I kinda agree about the screen. 1080p at 60 Hz just feels rough if you're staring at it all day. I've tried working on similar panels before and my eyes got tired way faster than on higher-res displays. The laptop itself sounds solid, but the screen really holds it back for me.
