Tesla vs Mercedes self-driving test ends in 40+ interventions as Elon Musk says FSD is years ahead

Is this a blog or is it supposed to be journalism?
If it's a blog read no further...

Interventions is not a measure of performance and if you'd made any research into the safety dynamics of assisted (in this case) vs self driving (not tesla and not mercedes in this comparison), you'd know that the 'collaborative' driving approach where the vehicle does NOT pretend to drive itself keeps the driver involved and results in better reaction time and less complacency. The tesle approach were the assisted driving program pretends to drive itself and disconnects upon driver input leads to driver distraction and ultimately deaths. I'm sure you like your telsa and life on Mars will be great but this is a misleading and dangerous take.
Do better.

In essence, this is a criminal media marketing conspiracy of companies paying for these lies and it demands the punishment of those responsible for spreading these lies among the stupid public, which leads to the death of people because of morons (question - how did these morons get a license to drive a car? Didn't they pass a test from a psychiatrist for competence and adequacy of thinking? Or are these psychiatrists corrupt and received a bribe from them? In some countries, up to 50% of drivers cannot pass a medical examination and also pay bribes when passing a driving test, i.e. adequacy) on the roads. who believed this lie and decided that they could be distracted from control even for a moment?

Mercedes drive is unacceptable, if it cannot keep within lines on that road it should not be allowed for use.
Last month I used Tesla free FSD (Supervised) and it managed to drive me continuously on 150 miles highway, then across the big city after sunset (including left turn on 4 lanes to 4 lanes intersection, or across the workarea heavily marked with cones), and I did not have to intervene once (except of course keeping hands on the wheel to not get disconnected). On 12 days country trip I used it everywhere. I've had some laughable moments, few hiccups with GPS, and not a single intervention caused by dangerous drive. Few places I intervened were mostly my impatience (use right shoulder for right turn, don't sit stupidly within lines). So there are hiccups, minor bugs to clean, but FSD allowed me to rest behind the wheel most of the time, and focus on a big picture. I was so happy when it managed to drive across the busy town straight to the hotel or supercharger, without me trying to navigate it, even with the help of GPS.

That's right, being concentrated all the time. But then what's the point of "autopilot", right? It only increases fatigue, because... a person has to look after not only himself, but also a machine with a bunch of bugs, and this increases the risks significantly.
It is precisely because of the criminal marketing lies in the corrupt press that morons on the roads who do not read the real requirements (ignorance of the rules does not exempt these morons from responsibility) decide that this is a real autopilot and you can take your mind off the steering wheel and lose concentration on the road, entrusting it to a buggy program . As a result, innocent people die. And in such cases, both the morons and those "journalists"/beneficiaries in the media who place deliberately false advertisements for "autopilot" in the press should go to prison.

This article as well as the original video are intentionally miss-leading. The comparison is made between Tesla FSD and MB Driver Assist. Driver Assist is not rated for level 3 autonomy. It is basically a lane assist. The comparison should have been made with vanilla Tesla Autopilot.
I have used MB Driver Assist on an E-class from 2017. It is not perfect and it struggles with direct sunlight and requires lane markings on both sides. It struggles with perforated lane markings and kinda fails in seemingly normal/optimal conditions.
My WV Tiguan with Drive IQ (same level of assistance) fares better since it requires one lane marking and recognizes the shoulder.
Overall this article seems like a hit piece.

Mercedes L3 system is designed for a specific purpose. It is not attempting to compete with FSD.

As for Elons statement that they are 5 years ahead of everyone, that is total BS. Mobileye is very close, as are XPeng, NIO, Li Auto, Huawei, Zeekr. Bosch has an advanced system that is in testing with VW, Mercedes has an advanced system working with NVIDIA, BMW is working with Qualcomm, Volvo has their own in house system. And there is an interesting startup in the UK called Wayve that has being doing end to end NNs for years before Tesla even thought about it

QuoteJust goes to show you how worthless the California DMV certification is ..what a joke
Just goes to show how this article and video has duped people into thinking that a Level 3 autonomous driving system was involved in this test. It was NOT. What was tested - a lane keep assist feature on the MB. It is not equivalent to Tesla FSD.
