Lenovo has launched a bunch of gaming products in China. Among them is the 2024 Legion Y9000P, which comes with the Intel Core i9-14900HX processor and maxes out at Nvidia RTX 4090 GPU. The base config of the gaming laptop features RTX 4060 and has a current starting price of CNY10,299 (around $1,431) on JD.com.

Notice how Lenovo and other Chinese companies began to mock Western consumers - the best model options are now available exclusively in China, for the Chinese. At an extremely low price. At the same time, they are made (which is a special kind of mockery of the West) on the basis of Western components. And the West looks at this sadly and cannot do anything about it. =)

What a clown comment. Go to Newegg and you can find 20 plus models with a 4090 in them and 8 models with the 7945HX (none are Lenovo btw) and a couple with the 7945HX3D. What are you smoking? And the low price they referenced is not for a 4090, it's the lowest config of the range with a 4060 in it. Did you read the article at all?

Exactly. This is Asus and similar dregs. With a lot of shortcomings.
And not a single Lenovo Legion, of which there are plenty in China.

And who is the clown after this? My condolences to the Western consumers.

Yeah, everyone in "the West" is devastated and envious of China. Not.

Ah, so this Lenovo Legion Y9000K is the Legion 9 (16IRX9) under a different China-only name. Pretty much identical specs including same chassis both in size down to a milimetre and weight, but no water cooling gimmick and worse screens in China (the West looks at that sadly and cannot do anything about it. =)).

The Legion 9 has i9 14900HX 157W + RTX 4080 175W or RTX 4090 175W + excellent Mini LED 3200x2000 165 Hz screen.

The Legion Y9000K has the same CPU but at 140W so 17W less TDP + more GPU options starting with RTX 4060 + a bit worse 2560x1600 IPS screen with higher refresh rate (240 Hz).

The Y9000P is also one Legion which is available worldwide, I'll find it. The West is in shambles.

Edit: Found it, Y9000P China-only name for, the Legion Pro 7. The West is still in shambles.

Edit 2: They fixed the image on Weibo, the Y9000K also has the same Mini LED 3200x2000 165 Hz panel as the Legion 9. I replaced the old image in my comment with a new one. The i9 14900HX is also 125W, not 140W as it was initially shown, so 32W less TDP than the Legion 9 with the same CPU. Gimmick water cooling is now shown to be there too.

There are no Legion models with the 7945HX in the US/EU. There are plenty of them in and from China. It is obvious that Chinese manufacturers have begun to starve Western consumers. As a punishment for sanctions. The irony is that they produce all models with Western components.

This has been noticeable for about 2 years now.

It's just funny to watch this and it's so ironic against the backdrop of "sanctions" to China from the US and EU..

It should also be noted that Western laptop manufacturers are now always the last to receive the latest AMD processors - or they are simply not satisfied with too small batches (at a high price). After Asus. Asus appears en masse with new AMDs and is always the first. Back in the spring of every year, around May, and continues to remain freely available on the shelves, when Dell/HP/Lenovo are not even in pre-orders yet.

Like Samsung / Exynos and Dell / Alienware with non-localised mechanical keyboards. Consequence: we do not buy.

you are not buying anything at all, so don't say 'we'.
