Rear: AC adapter, HDMI 2.1 (8K@60 Hz, 4K@120 Hz), 2.5
Gbps RJ-45

This is an illiterate lie from the author - HDMI 2.1 does NOT support monitors in lossless mode, only with guaranteed loss of information in DSC lossy compression mode. Indication in the text of reviews of support for 8k for monitors without necessarily specifying that only in DSC data loss mode is a deliberate deception of readers. Editors need to force the author to change the meaning of what they wrote if they are pursuing good goals of increasing the technical literacy of readers, and not pursuing selfish goals for the sake of publishing marketing materials from manufacturers.

Only Display Port 2.0+ in UHBR20 mode supports 8K monitors at 60Hz. But Intel, like NVidia, deceived everyone again and did not support DP2.0/UHBR20 even in cards and SoC 2023-2024. Despite the fact that the DP2.0 standard was published back in 2019!

Again, it was this author who did not check the native contrast, thereby destroying any point in testing the screen.

Again, it was this author who did not check the native contrast, thereby destroying any point in testing the screen.

While the resolution and aspect ratio are correct, the screen isn't outstanding given the unknown native contrast and lack of Adobe RGB coverage, which is pretty ridiculous considering the price.

The keyboard traditionally kills any possibility of fast typing and work, as on classic, work, desktop keyboards with a normal, and not damaged, as here, numeric keypad.

Again, I would like to emphasize the removal of the 4th M.2 from version 2024, as well as 2023, compared to version 2022 - which deprives owners of the opportunity to create a fault-tolerant RAID10 on 4x M.2 SSD. This is sad considering the price of the laptop.

The processor was never able to overtake last year's 7945HX. But there is nothing surprising here - after all, under the 14th series, Intel still hides outdated Raptor cores, and not the new Meteor Lake made using the "7nm" technical process for the first time for Intel.

Also extremely shocking is the monstrously slow RAM, despite the installation of DDR5 5600 modules for which Intel promises a throughput of 89GB/s in the datasheet for the 14900HX. As we can see from the AIDA64 tests, the real efficiency of the memory controller is simply shameful - it does not even reach 62% of the promised 89GB/s. Shame on the heads of the Intel developers and the MSI engineering team.

Taking into account the fact that there are simply no options on the market with 18" 16:10 4K as obvious competitors, it will still find its admirers with deep wallets and sailors, shift workers who simply have nothing else to do on long business trips in the middle of nowhere.. .

Thanks for your attention.

You are an amateur layman talking complete nonsense.
Only 4k panels at the pixel level are compatible with point-to-point fhd resolution.

That is why your 2.5k is the most idiotic option possible, which I have already written about 100,500 times, but every time there is a new stupid amateur (apparently even a child who has not received a matriculation certificate and does not have basic mathematical training at the elementary school level) who categorically talks nonsense.

2.5k can't even beat the mobile 4090 in 2023 releases in ultra quality, much less the 2024 releases.

2.5k is NOT compatible with 4k and fhd video, because... in both cases there will not be perfect pixel sharpness.

The best screen options are multiples of fhd - 4k, 8k.

We work in 4k/8k with ideally sharp fonts and vector graphics, and play in fhd if fps up to 60 is not enough. Getting a perfectly sharp picture in 4k->fhd, instead of the idiotic 2.5k resolution is incorrect for both games and 4k video/ fhd.

You are a complete moron who simply can't stop with this nonsense. You can't downscale 4K to FHD to make it perfectly sharp just as you can't do the same with 720p on a 1440p screen even though it is exactly four times smaller, just like FHD being four times smaller than 4K. You also definitely have to learn about display scaling.

Let's try again:

Quote from: Neenyah on December 16, 2023, 11:23:35Quite literally nothing is true nor accurate in that wall of text, pretty impressive. Especially not this part:

Quote from: NikoB on December 15, 2023, 14:33:06When running on battery power, there is no problem switching to fhd mode on a 4k panel without losing any sharpness at the pixel level - 4 4k pixels turn into 1 fhd, and the interpixel distance is still less than on a native fhd panel.

At 720p four pixels are binned into one pixels down to perfect integer number with 2560x1440 so try to use 1280x720 on a 1440p panel. You certainly won't manage to go "without losing any sharpness at the pixel level" and everything will look like s***.

I mean if you are lazy to change your screen resolution to 50% lower one, just literally take a screenshot of your screen, paste it in Paint, resize it to be 50% smaller, then save that screenshot and open it on your native resolution screen and make it fullscreen. It looks like crap. It's pretty clear that you don't have a 4K screen, lol. That is obvious from your point of looking at everything through 100% scaling; good luck using 100% scaling with 4K at 16", haha. Most people use 200% and that is effectively FHD, just much sharper.

Also just switching to a lower-resolution mode most definitely won't help with battery life because the 4K panel is still taking higher amount of power (than a FHD panel) regardless of what data is sent to it. The power savings will not come from the display when you lower the resolution; the saving come from the GPU because it doesn't have to render as many pixels. Switching to lower refresh rate will help though.

But then again that is not the case anymore since about Intel HD 520 (which was working flawlessly with 4K) so I understand why you think it is as that GMA 950 in your 2008 MSI laptop is clearly struggling even with its own 768p native resolution; perhaps it is time for an upgrade, NikoB?

Who tf does even work in 8K on a laptop?? 😂 Or any EASILY PORTABLE screen? 32" is not really easily portable.

Kell-Conerem

Wrote by a stupid brainless bot, looking at the screen of his smartphone with 350+ ppi. =)

So to flog and crap yourself, you still have to try very hard... but Neenyah is a champion in disgracing himself...))))

timespy: 18157
Graphic Score 21245
CPU Score 9958
MSI Center Modus extrem

Graphic 13798
Physical 38456
Combi 7908
Was annähernd okay ausschaut.

Pcmark10 7854. Auch etwas wenig
