Korean companies like LG and Samsung, which supply batteries for Tesla vehicles, are starting to clean their supply chain of China-made cathode and other battery materials. The move follows the new Inflation Reduction Act EV subsidy requirements for manufacturing in North America.

Thank God.  BYD doesn't even make enough batteries for their own cars.  That's why they got a backlog of several months to fulfill customers orders.  American cars dont got a great international reputation.  More Tesla not using Chinese batteries catching on fire only good for China because destroys US reputation even more.

vertigo

Yet more taxpayer money helping people to buy fancy new cars instead of going toward actually useful things that will help a majority of people, all under the pretense of a global warming initiative, when the end result will barely make a dent in it overall. Meanwhile, the major sources of greenhouse gases and pollution will continue to go unchanged as consumers keep believing the lie that it's up to them to work together as individuals to save the planet, yet somehow miss that the increased consumerism of buying all these new cars while trashing still good ones is actually making things worse and only serves to make companies richer and distract people from the truth. We deserve the future we're creating.

Make some sense

You do realise most people around the world only buy a new car when their old one has gone kind of bust and they need a car for their daily activities. They don't buy it just for the sake of it, you know WHY? Because they cost a LOT of MONEY !!!!
What do you suggest they should do? Buy another gasoline car instead of an EV ? In a perfect world we could have a massive, well-connected electrified public transportation, or bicycle friendly cities but until you get all the politicans on board for that, we have to make do with something.
And electrification is the only way to clean energy. All the nitwits who say these EVs run on electricity generated from coal, don't understand that the end goal is to have them run on electricity from solar, wind, nuclear and replace coal entirely in the next 30 years. So, we have to start somewhere with the batteries to advance them for the next 30 years for transportation and energy storage/
What is the end game for Gasoline cars? Improving the engine efficiency by 0.9998 % every year isn't going to change the fact it still requires fossil fuel at the end of the day.
