AMD could announce the Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 parts in the first week of September followed by launch on September 15. Early pricing info indicates that the Zen 4 Raphael desktop lineup will start from US$229 for the Ryzen 5 7600 and top-out at US$799 for the Ryzen 9 7950X. AMD is also expected to introduce Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Ryzen 9 7950X3D as Zen 4 3D V-Cache SKUs.

I'm well aware of the impending release of AMD/Intel CPUs. I decided to stick with Ryzen 5000 series and bought a 5950x the other day. I'll most likely stick with it but curious what others would do. Do you think Ryzen 7000 or RL would be worth the hassle?

Each user needs to know how fast is and will be fast enough. For me, Ryzen 3000 is fast enough so 5000 or 7000 are just a matter of new features and mainboard compatibility. If these are immaterial for you, consider the maximum speed you actually need.

If you already have r9 5950x, then i suggest wait until zen4+ or zen4++ before upgrading. Keep in mind 7000 series is the first zen4/ am5 cpus it might need some optimizations down the line.
So the smart choice is wait for zen4+ or zen4++ before upgrading (for your case at least).

R7 Zen3+ 6700G 8C/16T with 16CU RDNA2 supporting up to 6400Mhz DDR5 is perfect for me.
