Let down by the display. The third generation of the HP EliteBook 820 is a compact subnotebook with a 12.5-inch screen, which is designed for business environments. Our review configuration, however, is unbalanced, because besides good performance, you also get a very poor TN screen. Coil whining is a problem for the small notebook as well.

Nope.  You can on the 840, but with the 820, the M2 occupies the same space as the 2.5" drive.  It was not well thought out.

Mr Robot

You're wrong.  I own an 820 G3 and have a SATA HDD and the preinstalled SSD working together.

The SSD sits on top of the HDD and fits completely fine.

@Mr Robot

How were you able to do this? What particular HDD and m.2 SSD did you use?

Davek

I can confirm that it can hold a HDD and SSD. I bought one with 128gb SSD installed and today I opened it up and put on old WD slim 1tb HDD in. The M2 SSD sits on top the the HDD fine. It's actually a clever way of organising the space in there

Hi, I can't find the color profile you suggest to use to to adjust the quality of the screen. Where can i retrieve the link please?
Thanks a lot

I have confirmed that an mSATA - SATA adapter will physically fit into the 2.5" bay next to an M2 SSD.
I am waiting for the mSATA SSD to confirm whether they will both work together.

You can fit a SATA 111 Drive under the M2.

In fact you could have a total of 8TB
of disk space in this box!

2TB on the M2 SSD
&
6TB on the SATA 111

I currently have 32 GB of ram
256GB M2 Nvme SSD
and
500GB Kingston SATA 111 SSD Drive

It works very well and is extremely fast cost me £420 altogether.

Great piece of kit for working with!

Chris

Mr Nicholas Smith

Yep, defo, NVME on top of SDD SATA, just make sure you get a thin SSD SATA  :) ;)
