It's one of the cheapest gaming laptops you can find with the GeForce RTX 2060 at the moment, but don't hop onboard just yet. The 8 GB of single-channel RAM and small 256 GB NVMe SSD might hinder your experience.

That isn't cheap, that is expensive. I would wait a month for blackfriday deals.

The EVOO last year had 16gb ram, 256 nvme, 1660TI, 9750H, 140hz screen going for under $700.

Oh, I forgot to mention. I know notebookcheck is a global website. But in this case walmart is a US company so this laptop I am guessing is US specific.

So it should be noted that in the US, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS VOIDING THE WARRANTY

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act makes it illegal in the US to void any warranty unless the manufacturer can explicitly prove that that specific action lead to that specific failure. So even if you damage the laptop somehow during the replacement, unless that specific part you damaged cause the failure, it is still covered by warranty.

So as long as you know what you are doing, you can ignore any warranty void stickers in the US.

BUT, let me be clear. Sometimes manufacturers also use warranty void stickers on sensitive parts that if taken apart it can damage or break them. So don't ignore those stickers if you don't know what you are doing.

Do you really think 57% sRGB slow response time 60Hz display can compete with other Black Friday offerings?

I don't, and the whole irony here is Walmart themselves sold a better package with the EVOO. I think they just want to push subpar computers at a premium for those people nostalgic with the Gateway brand.

now that machine is a 650 bucks... its a really good price. I´m from perú but a friend can bring me the laptop this end of the mont.... you recommend me buy it?

I got the recent 650$ 120hz version of this yesterday, but the review verdict here is kinda funny. It basically says "it cuts corners, the panel is bad, the storage/RAM is too little, and it could have been done better overall. So we're giving it an 82%, which sits just outside of our top 10 budget laptops." Good old German criticality. ::)

I bought this for 700 bucks. On black Friday. So I'm getting a newer gen CPU and dope video performance for gaming. I can't complain if i want to worry about sRGB for photography and super-duper panels. The desktop is your way to go. This is still a mobile device giving you 120hz, RTX 2060, and running any game you throw at it. Yes, some others offer more storage, i guess ill have to put my 4TB external to work. Place a couple of fun games at a time. At 1k i would consider something else at 700, cut corners or not you got a bargain.

For $650 this laptop is a killer deal now, probably the best price - performance that you can find! There are no other laptops with RTX2060 even near that price. One thing I am not sure, the review here is claiming 60Hz screen, but Walmart and Gateway have it as 120Hz? I guess when mine arrives I will have to test that and see, anyway, best deal this season for sure.

Appreciate this publication for it's deep dive reviews.

On this one particularly a couple of points:
My screen is definitely a 120Hz as advertised by Walmart.
The colors are bright and viewing angles are fine. I find
this is one of the better screens I have had.
Also the case: It seems to be metal or some new near metal plastic.
I found very little to no flex at the keyboard or top, plus it looks great.
Finally it's my understanding that you can upgrade (without damaging)
and not void warrantee.
This article was a big help in my correct decision to buy this laptop.
Thanks!

The $650 deal is just too tempting to pass up. Considering another 8GB SODIMM can be had for less than 50USD and hard drives are incredibly inexpensive as well, we will see.

The Wal-Mart model has the 120hz display, so we will see what the ghosting is like. The price to performance is insane, and too good to pass up.

It's a bit underhanded to not do the single core score, (especially with NBC's series of articles highlighting it for the quad-i7's), which beats the 9750h and very close to the 10750h. This i5 equals the 9750h hexacore overall. CPU bound LOW settings games are the only gaming benefit you get from more than 4 cores. Or badly optimized cpu heavy games like ACod/hzd etc Jarred Tech looks at this specifically. Gaming, focus on the GPU, it's not cpu bottlenecked in most  games.

The excessive fan sound is a result of the included default gamingcenteru software having over aggressive settings, using eluktronics control center it's much quieter.

This has a MUX switch so you can turn off the igpu and just use the 2060 with the corresponding performance benefit but worse battery life. The ssd get's 81st percentile in passmark. The GPU is unlocked totally, in msiab you can OC as much as you want. This has XTU in the bios, ocing in the bios, undervolting in the bios. Agreed on the terrible sd card reader. THX audio tuning was not good for me, got the realtek audio drivers and all better.

At the 699 price around xmas 2020 it was unbeatable, at the full 999 price now you're better off ordering a 3060 tuf/nitro 5.
