Samsung's new devices are a poor joke and the base Note 10 is the punchline

Come to think of it, Sony's had the best CMOS all along, but somehow the mobile division's chosen to avoid it, that's even before the fuzzy processing issues.

The Note 10 really is an "e" grade product, it baffled me when it was released but examining the specs one by one superposed with the price it baffles me even more. What were they thinking?! It can't even be explained that Samsung put too much hope on the ban, because that only came into effect near the end of the product cycle. The person behind this duo needs to be fired!

I wasn't aware that ROGP2's screen is better than any of Samsung's flagships though, I heard it was a cheap-looking (the look itself may not be easily quantified) BOE panel.

Sony has always had the best (and most popular) camera sensors. Xperia phones have them too. Ironically, the non-Sony phones take better photos than the Sony Xperia phones, despite using the same Sony camera sensors.

It boils down to crappy software, shoddy postprocessing, and I suspect internal sabotage, possibly from Sony's camera (Alpha/DSLR) division. Add a little legendary Japanese stubbornness and a clinging onto the glorious Sony days during the Walkman era, it's no wonder less than one million Xperia phones were sold in the most recent quarter.

Are you that daft? The major smartphone companies are releasing 'budget premium' phones now to grab back some market share from the more premium Chinese phones.

Refer to iPhone XR vs iPhone XS, Galaxy S10e vs Galaxy S10, Pixel 3a vs Pixel 3.

Therefore, to make a cheaper Note, some corners need to be cut: less RAM, no microSD slot, one less camera etc.

If it makes you feel better: the Note 10 Plus is the successor to the Note 9, and the Note 10 is really the 'Note 10 Lite'.

Also, don't lose sleep over the absence of a headphone jack. If it's such a dealbreaker for you, I'm quite sure ALL the budget phones have a headphone jack; go buy one of those. If you're lucky you might even get FM radio.

Shouldn't have called it the Note 10, then, if it isn't a Note 9 successor.

Exactly, and even the upgrade(plus downgrades too) of the Note10+ doesn't excuse the price hike either.
And the only people who "don't lose sleep over the absence of a headphone jack" are those who either own earphones expendable enough that they'll go BT anytime, which is nothing to be proud of, those who never listen to music on anything mobile, or those who always carry a separate player, and I don't think the latter two are a majority, nor do they include "Hugh Dick".

All these new products from Samsung make me love my Xiaomi Mi A1 even more. It might not have NFC, but it can shoot pretty good photos, it has an audio jack, and the sound it delivers is unexpectedly good - even comparing it to a dedicated player, namely the Fiio X3 II, in both cases driving the 60 ohm Koss Porta Pro headphones. Other than my rant above, DxOMark has just made the Note 10+ 5G the new king of the smartphone photography section. :/

Fiio...I had a listen to their X7 and wasn't impressed. If you ask me I would recommend L&P's L3Pro for an entry level player.
