Schon zur Google I/O 2018 stellte Google ein um Augmented Reality erweitertes Google Maps-Feature zur einfacheren Fußgänger-Navigation vor, insbesondere was die einzuschlagende Richtung betrifft. Dieses mittlerweile "Live View" getaufte Feature wird nun nicht mehr nur auf Pixel-Phones sondern auch auf iPhones und regulären Android-Handys unterstützt, die mit ARCore oder ARKit kompatibel sind.
