A recent benchmark by the YouTube channel NJ Tech compares gaming performance between Windows 11 and CachyOS. Early results suggest Linux is closing the gap, and in some cases, even pulling ahead in modern AAA titles.

You must reminded that most game companies built their games for Windows OS only.  And Linux can has such closing scores is already amazing.

Well those 3 fps more on linux is a margin of error, as long as it has same or better performance than windows, I am happy. Keep in mind though many of the games don't run natively but through an emulator so is a great achievement.

That is genuinely worrisome. There's a difference of up to 13 fps for 1% lows in many games (In CSGO it's even larger difference). More than that, running on Linux is also taking 2-3 GB less system ram and less vram while emulating native windows games. :/

Who gaf about AMD. Nvidia (90% of the market) is slower on all Linux distros by roughly 10% if not more for all dx12 games, which is most games now.

The bottom line is administration, always has been, always will be. What version of drivers are you using? What security patches are you running? What background processes are taxing your system? How knowledgeable are you about any of these things? Are you writing your own code? Are you in control of who does when they issue you a patch or an upgrade? Are you even qualified to butter toast?

Pointless discussion. I can raise or drop fps on any machine running any os that's capable simply by paying attention to the above mentioned questions or not when layering an OS build. It's a not one size fits all situation. Technical prowess is paramount to getting the best performance possible in any sitution. Do you go to a restaurant and after looking at the menu proceed to tell the food server eh, just pick anything that you like and serve it to me. Well then my friends, you deserve that bowl of soup with a large, dead, black fly floating right on top and one at the bottom of the bowl that you can't see until you get to it.

I don't think it's a good idea to recommend any "Gaming Linux distribution" at all, specifically because these often lack in other areas (as in being a daily driver), and will throw off people much faster because of that, than keep them for having 3 fps more in games.

Where are you getting the impression it's a gaming designed OS?

From their site they literally state that it is a Linux distribution with further optimizations made for zen 4 CPUs and improvements to the scheduler.

That's all. No mention of gaming at all.

Do you want to argue about semantics? Check youtube, forums, magazines of the last 1-2 years with keywords gaming+linux. You can't miss it. Also don't forget the 2 very recent interviews on computerbase and pcgameshardware (though german language) with the creator of CachyOS. Should be enough.
