Why are mobile workstations like the ThinkPad P16v Gen 3 not equipped with the fastest components?

Mobile workstations are often synonymous with fast components and professional graphics cards. However, many manufacturers actually do not use the fastest versions of the components, and the recently reviewed ThinkPad P16v Gen 3 is a good example.

I think the translation here is slightly wrong. It's not that they aren't equipped with the fastest components, but that those components are frequently derated for thermal envelope/cooling and noise reasons. Most of these machines are used in offices in which fan noise would be very unwelcome. Comparing workstation to gaming laptop performance and noise is nonsensical.

Mobile workstations are normally mission critical devices used in demanding workloads, they don't use the fastest components because they prioritise stability over bleeding edge performance.

Highly disagree , do you think that gaming laptop can't be quite ?as if their fan can only speed at max 100% ? You can set the fan curve in app that would be not that much loud but still provide reasonable performance , and you can also install studio drivers too , they exist of exact reason , also you can undervolt ( except some acer ) that would help stability , A2000 level performance for 2800$ is straight up worst value for money i have seen , the fact that you can get 4050 laptop for 800$ with 115W and almost little less performance tells how stupid and absurd that price is , once you find a reasonable stable driver like 565 ,you don't need to upgrade either .

New workstation laptop unlike old one are significantly bad value for money aren't durable and good as old one , you think gaming laptop aren't good stability ? That's mostly windows issue, you buy somthing like 4060 115W for 1000$ install win 11 server 2021 + nvidia stable studio driver like 565 and you are good to go for next 5 year for your professional workloads.

And talking about actual workload A2000 would sh!t pants if you are doing good amount of 3D work , for 2800$ you can buy used 4090M that is absolute powerhouse or you are worried about fan noice set custom fan curve, of you don't know how to do that you aren't professional.

A2000 is 4060M at best , this is capped at 60W so it's like 3060M 80W xD ,
I agree you don't need flashy components but that doens't mean it has to be bad value for money ..
But you know what let them be scammed, I ain't gonna argue 😂
