Sharp Xrostella VR1 virtual reality glasses crowdfunding campaign launching soon

Sharp Japan will launch a Green Funding campaign for the Xrostella VR1 virtual reality glasses in November 2025. At just 198 grams, the VR glasses are less than half the weight of Meta's Quest 3s and can be used with PCs and smartphones.

This is obnoxious. Since when was crowdsourcing intended to fund the R&D of giant already profitable companies?
Its not even like this product is doong anything innovative. Actually the specs are pretty crappy compared to most other existing VR headsets.
