It's time for many laptop manufacturers to opt for this CAMM2 memory. It's easy to change and upgrade, saves energy, and is more powerful than current SODIMMs. China is already ahead of us. I don't know what's happening to the rest of the West that hasn't taken the final step.
I hope AMD's next GorgonPoint laptops have this option and that several manufacturers opt for it, even if it's with low memory. I can be sure that many people would buy it.

CAMM2 memory is Dell's non-free intellectual property that requires royalties to be paid in order to use it. It reminds me of the awful RAMBUS company and their horrible proprietary memory, which they tried to force on consumers back in the day, just to make us dependent on them and make a lot of money for themselves.

Such behavior is shameful !!

Personally, I refuse to buy machines equipped with this type of RAM. Especially since there are free, royalty-free solutions !!

You are thinking of the original CAMM, Dell donated it to JEDEC so CAMM2 is a JEDEC open standard.
