Intel's upcoming Panther Lake laptop CPUs are rumoured to add a new class of SKUs on top of the existing Core Ultra variants. They will be called Core Ultra X, followed by the usual model number.

I wouldn't be sure about that being Panther Lake. I'd like to think Panther Lake gets a "clean" name branding (without additional X). The X sound more like an "eXtra" lineup from something that already exists...

It could be an Arrow Lake refresh with higher CPU clocks.
It could be an Arrow Lake with iGPU focus.
It could be a Lunar Lake with 65W TDP instead of limited to 30W.
It could be ... whatever

5 not Four

"An earlier leak confirmed Intel's Panther Lake lineup would launch with at least four SKUs, with the top-spec Core Ultra 9 variant tipped to feature 4 P-cores, 8 E-cores and 4 LPE-cores."

It could be an Arrow Lake refresh with higher CPU clocks.   <==== This is most likely
It could be an Arrow Lake with iGPU focus. ==== Nope, Arrow Lake is suck with crappy Alchemist iGPU
It could be a Lunar Lake with 65W TDP instead of limited to 30W. === No! Lunar Lake is a one and done product, it is not ever going to be pushed to 65W let alone refreshed. Lunar is too expensive to make, Panther Lake is its spiritual successor but with higher core count versions and 45W.

The Alchemist iGPU in Arrow Lake is not crappy. The Arrow Lake 255H (has Arc 140T iGPU) has similar perfomance as the Radeon 890m. Check here: www.notebookcheck.net/Radeon-890M-vs-Arc-140T_12524_12966.247598.0.html

The only thing that sucks is, that Intel does not offer a desktop APU version of it. In theory they could also replace the Xe1 iGPU tile (Alchemist) from Arrow Lake with an Xe2 iGPU tile (Battlemage). But both things are more wishful thinking than likely to become true.

But it could be the plain Lunar Lake Chip without soldered RAM, made for use with SODIMM RAM.

QuoteCore Ultra X7 368H with an iGPU clock of up to 2.5 Ghz

There are 2 noticeable things:

1) The 368H seems like a successor to the 268H (Lunar Lake), because of the number "8". Only Lunar Lake has the number "8", Arrow Lake has not. Though I admit a Lunar Lake refresh wouldn't make sense at all. Well... except for a SODIMM version. But ugh... would feel like a wasted parallel development at this point.

2) An iGPU clock of 2.5Ghz would actually be a higher clocked one. Lunar Lake and most of Arrow Lake have only 2.0 Ghz, with the 285H having the most with 2.35Ghz.

Hotz

But if it really were a refresh of Lunar Lake, then it would probably have the "V" in it as well, as in "368V". But they clearly call it "368H"... so uhm... no f-cking idea what this thing is...

Hotz

Or maybe it is Panther Lake...... but why the "X" then? That would be unnecessary and confusing.

Hotz

Ok... maybe... maybe because AMD has named its processors "AMD Ryzen AI HX 370" - Intel thinks Core Ultra 368H sounds inferior and therefore added an "X" so it sound on par: "Intel Core Ultra X 368H"

But meh... that's just dumb and ridiculous... but it could be... and then it would in fact be Panther Lake...

Bona

AMD Ryzen AI MAX+
Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme
Core Ultra X

Out of touch US corporations trying to market their shitty overpriced products to consumers...
