I'm genuinely intrigued by how Peele's mastery of horror might elevate Knock into something truly groundbreaking.
That said, I was not impressed or convinced by the current visual presentation. While lighting, shadows, AO, ect. can enhance a scene, they can't compensate for weak art direction and environmental design.
The chairs and walls come across as overly stylized (cartoon) rather than photo-realistic; relying on shadows, ect. doesn't hide the lack of detail or realism.
As it stands, Knock still has a long way to go in terms of today's visuals (Hellblade 2 wipes the floor with Knock... years-ago old tech). Strong atmosphere alone won't carry the experience if the foundation of the art and scenery remains underdeveloped.
