I don't understand why they invent this. We are not machines (yet). We know when we're tired (yawning). When we want to sleep, we take a nap or get some fresh air. Do these "scientists" think humans have lost the basic ability to know when they are tired or they should have a rest?
"yet its full theoretical and experimental potential remains to be unlocked." -Dr Chen
Actually they can unlock its potential in the Squid Games in the USA. Imagine the game host asks poor laborers to work non-stop for 24 hours. They will be fitted with this tiny device. Anyone who shows signs of fatigue will be shot in the head immediately. The person who lasts the longest in this anti-fatigue game will win one billion dollars.
