It's unfortunate that Dell couldn't keep the dedicated Home and End keys on their business machines.

Also unfortunate to see PWM flickering on such a high-end machine.

Very useful. Too bad you could not compare to thinkpad P50 4K display with Xeon. I have  that one and I am quite happy. The built in colorimeter is a nice addition.

I think there is a mistake in the text - or in the other article about Dell 5510, which you don't link in the text, but reffer to. You say, quote:

"Our color measurements reveal coverage of an excellent 99.72% of the sRGB spectrum, though 100% AdobeRGB is not quite achieved—we calculated right around 86% instead, which is still very good, but inferior to the Precision 5510's 96%"

When I dug up the Precission 5510 article (link: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Dell-Precision-5510-Workstation-Review.156441.0.html ) - that's what I found there, quote:

"The AdobeRGB color space is rendered by over 88%".

So which one of those statements is true?

It looks like a mistake in the other article, or at least in the database entry for that particular machine.  I unfortunately cannot say which number is correct as I did not personally evaluate the 5510.

Hey Steve, what a great review, thanks for your effort.
Problem is I'm looking for 15" workstation with the best battery life OTG and current nailed down my choices to 3: Lenovo Thinkpad P50, HP ZBook 15 G3 and this. I've read reviews of both the P50 and 15 G3 with non-touch FHD on notebookcheck. So would it be possible for you to review the FHD unit of the Precision 7510 that comes with 90Wh battery? Would love to see and compare specifics like PWM, CPU/GPU throttling on battery, and power consumption. Thanks! -Mike

I own this laptop. I don't have the xeon, but I have the top model chip. I have to say this machine is a work horse. A laptop like this should be used for heavy duty tasks, not "just-cause" purposes. I use it for running vmware which itself is running docker / vagrant instances. I plan to upgrade it eventually to 64gb of ram for vm purposes. When I use it, if you don't have hardware acceleration turned on, the experience can be pretty crappy, so I have the hardware accelerator turned on most of the time. I usually get around 3-4 hours max battery out of the system. Before I made all my changes, this easily lasted me 7-8 hrs. I have a samsung 950 evo 512gb M.2 + Samsung 850 Evo 2tb ssd. This machine is a beast.

I ordered mine back in Dec 2015, so i have been using it for almost a year. my spec is almost the same as the review unit, with a few exceptions, ECC ram, 256GB SSD, no smart card, lower capacity battery.
It has been a wonderful workhorse. very dependable as a desktop replacement with rare occasion of battery usage. most of my uses are graphics design and presentations, with some video rendering here and there.
and yes, i have the same issues with sleep mode or on some occasions when turning on, it will stuck in boot/black screen for 10+ minutes. I'm not 100% sure what causes it, but i think it has something to do with external attached storages/accessories.

We have replaced several laptops last year by newer Dell devices. We have fully loaded versions with 4K displays and 16-32 GB of memory; all have major issues when running Windows 10 even when used with most recent versions of drivers and BIOS/firmware. BSOD, black screens, flickering, etc.
I can not recommend Dell Precision 7510, unless you can enjoy and afford to spend time on fixing bugs caused by the hardware/software configuration. Dell did it's best to replace components, but that only partially helped.
Maybe some day Apple will offer a device with Windows and without these glitches and reduce our TCO.

I have a Dell 7510 xeon.. I use it for real-time audio (running VSTs). The latency is VERY POOR. The main culprit is the ACPI driver. I've tried w10 and w7 and now have the machine stripped to a bare minimum of devices. Still there are regular and annoying DPC spikes that cause audio glitches. I also have an older 3rd gen i7 (3740qm) Dell E6430 which frankly significantly out performs this new machine for low latency audio.

I have never seen a laptop with loudspeakers as bad as this in my life.
Also, the connection at the headphone jack is not stable.

I've had this system for a few years as well. Fully spec'd out with everything. My issue i've had with it, the screen. I've had a poor gradient problem since i got it. There are stepping issues throughout the gradation. I'm not sure what's causing this. If anyone else has seen this let me know if you've found a resolve.
When i plug in an external monitor thru the mini display port the gradation is fine. But on the 4k IGZO screen is banding.

I have the same machine as mentioned in the article, but here I am having some serious issues like when ever I try to run it on over clock speeds above 2.9 GHz, and some load is added it suddenly shuts down, I don't know why this happens but due to this I am unable to use it fully. If someone knows the solution to it please share.
