The Xiaomi Mi Box 5 and the Xiaomi Mi Box 5 Max have been launched in China. These smart home products support an up to 4K resolution and are compatible with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The difference between the two models is the built-in storage, with the Max offering up to 64 GB.

The only changes I can find versus the "S 3rd Gen" are:
- HyperOS instead of Google TV
- Option to get 4/64 instead of only 2/32

Changes that... might come?
- Maybe 64bit at last?
- Maybe UFS instead of eMMC?

Let's see what they come up with.

Anyway, this is one of the few TV boxes that can do Dolby Atmos and DTS:X passthrough, which is a VERY nice feature to have for people with a good audio system.

Agreed. Even a mere 100 Mbps ethernet port would do just fine.

Not worth it though due to HyperOS. They intentionally gimp devices to make them worse so that you are forced to upgrade. It's a horrible experience. Worst devices I have ever owned where updates make it worse than better.

HyperOS works great on my Xiaomi 15 Ultra... I'm not sure what you are complaining about.

Definitely not worth upgrading from S 3rd to Box 5, but whoever is looking to buy a new one, the Box 5 (Max) could be a better deal.
