Shanling has just unveiled a new portable CD player, the EC Zero T, at the High End Munich 2025 audio exhibition. The premium device features a self-developed R2R DAC and a pair of vacuum tubes at the output stage. A 5500 mAh battery paired with a solid, vibration-reducing body keeps it spinning on the go.

I have 2000 JAN6418 and they are really susceptible to vibration. I use them in a Guitar Clean Boost pedal called Octane. In development I had to forgo the standard footswitch and instead use a microprocessor and relay to bypass as the standard footswitch caused the tube to make noise. I also had to float the tube with 1/2 inch of foam. Vibration would truly make this tube have noise.
Though it's directly heated nature and it's very low filament current probably make it good to work on batteries.
