Razer's new Blade 14 is a high-quality and fast 14-inch all-rounder, which is now more compact and equipped with a 120 Hz OLED screen. The price is lower than before, but the limitation to the GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop with 8 GB VRAM is a drawback.

Thank you for the complete review! Could you guys also do one for the G14 with HX 370 and 5070? I am wondering how that one compares to the Blade14, the G14 with 4070 and the G14 with 5070 Ti regarding noise emission amd battery life.

Don't buy a laptop with 8 GB VRAM especially not at that price. 8 GB is barely cutting it anymore even at 1080p, in 2 years it will be even more of a bottleneck and you will have to upgrade again. The minimum you want today is a 5070Ti.

Can't I? But the laptop I want in the form factor I want in my price range pretty much only comes with a 6GB RTX 4050?

I know it's bad but like I don't even play new games anymore. The newest I would play is something from PS4 era anyway.

Even if there were to come a modern game that I was interested, I am happy to render the game at a lower res like 540p and then use dlss upscaling to compensate and get it to fit in a limited vram budget?

Or are you saying that 6GB doesn't cut it for 540p rendering? Also I think people are forgetting that unified memory systems such as consoles have 12GB-16GB for the total ram but on pc the memory pools are split so youve system memory to help as as well (i.e. 6gb vram + 16gb system memory)

It's not like we've much choice in the laptop market. Your only option is pretty much Nvidia. At least on desktop you now have the reasonably priced Rx 9060 xt finally but on mobile no such option exists, unfortunately. I guess you could go the 32gb amd igpu only route but even something like a weak rtx 4050 with 6gb of vram is order of magnitudes faster (like 2.5x to 3x).

What else do you do at exactly 1080p?

8 GB is enough though, almost all 2024 and 2025 games are trash anyways. Check Steam charts, current top 200 has exactly SEVEN (7) games where 8 GB is probably insufficient.

Nothing as I use 5:4 and do not care for the resolution;) On 5:4, I do deep learning Go gaming (i.e., candidate move (sequence) suggestions by empirical winning percentages and score predictions) and need less than 1GB VRAM (typically 667MB).
