Leak reveals specs for new Qualcomm Snapdragon SM8845 chipset destined for affordable flagships

According to a new report, Qualcomm may have a third flagship chipset up its sleeve for 2025. Sitting between the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, the SM8845 should come up just short of the Snapdragon 8 Elite to provide a near-flagship experience to sub-brands such as Redmi, Realme and iQOO.

Absolutely moronic segmentation. They could just lower the price of the soon to be superseded Elite (possibly lower clocks a little) and offer that as the lower tier alternative to the ELite 2. Why go to the trouble of yet another SoC to fill a niche already covered by existing SoC's.

Makes a lot of sense and would save design time and costs. Maybe fuse some cache off just in case someone jailbreaks it and over clocks it. That way it would never reach the performance of the former flagship.
