I met my wife playing this game 23 years ago. She travelled over 4'500 miles to meet me for the first time and we have 4 kids and a wonderful life thanks to MOH AA.

Were Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 Arena (MOH uses Q3's engine) fake shooters? Both are from 1999.

Sure were!

League of Lions UT clan forever. And Quake 2 Yaay!

I still don't get why COD kinda exploded in popularity and MOH kind of became irrelevant. I remember playing both MOH:AA and COD 1 back in the day. Both were both pretty big and similar but I always preferred MOH:AA over COD. What happened?

And since we're on the topic, why did some old shooters like UT and Quake die out but not CS which is also ancient? You can't say because they're too competitive or not popular on consoles because csgo is pretty competitive with a high skill ceiling and also not on consoles either.

They are arena shooters, and that alone makes them simply too difficult and too fast-paced for modern gamers ("gamers") today. Here is actually a great watch on that matter if you are willing to spend 26 minutes of your day: Why did Quake (and arena shooters) die?

I really miss those old days of UT99 and Q3A, heh...
