Tesla drops Model Y price by up to 9% in an effort to boost demand amidst factory idling

Tesla lost the unprecedented $94 billion in market cap two weeks into the new 2024 year, and its latest round of price cuts is unlikely to make its stock price fare better. After dropping its price in its largest market, now Tesla makes an even deeper cut to the Model Y tag in another important region.

As soon as tesla would assemblentheir model y with
1) proper suspension that would not fail
2) proper controls (wipers and indicators..anything.) that would not fail
3) 360 camera
4) seats that would not cause a** sweating
5) headlights that would not blind everyone else
6) cabin that keeps water out
7) door handles and windows that would not fail in snowy conditions
8) cabin that is not el cheapo tupperware
9) auto cruise that would not fail

...gigaberlin would run 24/7

Add this:

10) Repair parts that are actually available under a week's time
11) The possibility of repairing things on 3rd party repair shops
12) Repair prices that don't cost as much as a new car

You obviously don't own one.  Take it from someone who does, non of the issues you list are problems I have experienced. No failures of suspension, wipers work very well, controls are all on the screen and most via voice. There are cameras all around the car. A** sweating? Show me a car where that doesn't happen except where ventilated($$$) seats are present. The headlights are excellent and low, so I have no idea what you are talking about. Never had any issues with water in my cabin. My door handles work Every Single Time. A minimalist interior is just a matter of taste. I like it that way. My Full Self Driving feature is, bar none, that best and getting better every day.

Perhaps you are comparing to a much higher priced vehicle?

Don't own a Tesla, and I don't plan to buy one anytime soon, but one item on JoSeNytOnPerkele's list that I definitely agree with is the headlights.  I tend to pay attention to the oncoming cars that blind drivers with either high beams or mis-aligned headlights.  Some are big pickups (mostly Ford) with their driving lights on, but many are Teslas. I can easily pick out the Teslas when they go by due to their distinctive taillights.  Either these drivers are inconsiderate buffoons (entirely possible), or the headlights are misaligned or a poor design (not as likely).  This is just one more reason for many of us to fall into the latter group of the love 'em or hate 'em debate.  Personally, I'm tired of the holier-than-thou, nose-in-the-air attitude of many in the Tesla community.

You may have a point with the headlights.  I hadn't noticed it and I see other Teslas all the time in my area.  Hopefully I didn't come across as 'holier-than-thou' in my rebuttal.  That list was mostly untrue and I wanted to counter those with my experience.  There is a reason the Model Y is the best selling car in the US and many other countries.  I fully respect your choice to not buy one at this time.  I don't agree with government mandates on EVs as all purchases should be made on merits, just like hiring.  I bet we agree on many things.

I have the model y and the suspension is amazing.  You don't know what you're talking about and never owned a Tesla.  The wipers are the only thing that can be a little annoying but they've been much better on auto after the over the air updates.  Try that on your ford.

I agree that the wipers were less than optimal, but they have improved greatly with over the air updates.  My 2018 Model 3 has improved immensely over the years and all I have to do is say 'ok' to the updates in the app and I wake up to a better car! I'm sure other companies will copy this capability some day, but it's been 10 years and they are still 10 years behind. I suspect it's the dealer network that is holding OEMs back on this capability.
