While Nikon previously revealed that its nifty Auto Capture feature would make its way to the Nikon Z8 in a future firmware update, the verbiage stating such has mysteriously vanished from Nikon's marketing of the feature, leaving fans scratching their heads. Auto Capture, which has already made an appearance on the Nikon Z9, is a feature that automatically locks focus on and snaps an image of anything that enters the frame.

Nikon kills loyalty by using software to remove features their hardware platforms are capable of performing; my personal experience with this was finding out that my d-500 could not do some of the things my d-850 could do when the only real difference was the physical size of the sensor- and the price point. I needed a lighter camera for field work, which is why I bought the d-500 to start with- only to discover Nikon had crippled it so it wouldn't compete with the D-850. I learned my lesson. I sold my 3 Nikon bodies and 8 Nikon lenses and bought Canon equipment, and I can't imagine ever buying again from a company that literally breaks its own products to protect its profits.

I hope this is wrong and we do see the update in the Z8.  I have asked the question to Nikon hopefully many Z8 owners will do the same in the meantime lets see what Nikon come back with
