Quiet refresh. HP's large Spectre 2-in-1, the Spectre x360 15t, now comes with eighth-generation quad-core i7 processor, refreshed Nvidia graphics and a faster SSD. The striking aluminum chassis remains unchanged. How the updated hardware components affect the performance, temperature, fan noise and the battery life is the the subject of our review update.

I see laptop reviews since more than 15 years. This evening I jump here and wow. FInally somebody that show the pics outside/outdoor of the laptop. even in different conditions. Respect man. Compliments.

That HUGE bezel at screen bottom. :'(
Come on, HP -- must Microsoft show you how to do EVERYTHING?
Surface Book 2 FINALLY makes available a 3:2 15" panel. At last! With any luck, others (Lenovo, Acer, Dell, HP?) will soon copy that. About time we had choices other than crummy 16:9.

While I'm making a wish list for next-gen Spectre x360, I'd love to see:

* Wacom EMR stylus -- still the best stylus, wish more would use. Acer Switch 7, Samsung Notebook 9 have it now. Check out
Lisa Gade's Spectre x360 vs. Samsung Notebook 9 Pro vs. Yoga 720 comparison
to see just how much better EMR is.

* Matte rather than glossy screen surface, at least as an option.

* Full-sized up/down arrow keys in inverted T arrow key cluster, rather than those horrible shrunken ones used now.

* Concave rather than current flat topped keyboard keys. ThinkPad Yoga has 'em and they're sooo much nicer.

* Less ridiculously-large touchpad. I end up resting my palms on it while typing and unintentionally clicking. Very irritating.

* Real separate physical trackpad buttons: 3 of them.

* Touch stick at center of keyboard -- know I'm reaching here!

Thank you for the comprehensive detailed review of HP Spectre X360 15. I am really interested to get one for myself but was also looking at Lenovo Yoga 720 which is also an excellent laptop however it has not been upgraded with 8th generation Intel CPU. I find your review very detailed and helpful and even provides a good honest feedback to the hardware manufacturers.

Hi,
Love this site and the detail and comparisons!
Can you confirm if this is a typo - the Intel Tri band 8265 (which you refer to as a dual band later) Is it the dual band 8265 or the tri band 18265 you tested? Would appreciate knowing what it says in system info. Is it this
Name   [00000001] Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265
or something else?
Many thanks
Mark

Thanks for the review. Is there anyone out there that can confirm on how many PCIe lanes the Thunderbolt 3 connection is running at? Can it achieve 32Gbps?

I bought one of these on the basis of this (great) review.
So I was disappointed when it arrived with a Toshiba G4 ssd and not the Samsung you tested it with.
My efforts to get HP to replace were fruitless as they said they don't put the Samsung on consumer devices. When I asked how reviewers got one (as you weren't the only site that did) they kind of suggested the reviewers had lied!
I note they have even changed the spec since on no their website to just say "1Tb SSD" but sending a fast SSD for a performance test and selling with lower spec ones is surely a benchmark cheat? Have you seen this before?

Wow, that's a serious offense. It'd be great if the ratings were reviewed periodically to account for those kinds of cheatings.
