The video covers this extensively. Opting out didnt matter. There are multiple microphones on the device. Even toggling the physical mic off button on one LG model didnt actually kill it. Audio was not only picked up, but recorded and stored until an internet connection was restored.

Personally I never connected mine, I use an Android tv box that is segregated on a "garbage iot" vlan that can't see my other devices, behind adguard that blocks some of what it tries to phone home. Not perfect but lesser evil.


I would be interested to know how you keep your box segregated from your other devices..
