Since 2024, Microsoft has almost forced laptop manufacturers to install a keyboard with a Copilot key. Until now, this key has been practically useless for users who did not want to use Microsoft's AI assistant. This is set to change later this year.

1. I've read that the Copilot key is encoded as something like Alt-Shift-F23, so even if it was remapped to Ctrl it could not be used to create key combinations with Shift or Alt, and without them.  Will this change enable those combinations?  Or will it just provide a GUI to make it simpler to set-up the existing remapping mechanism with the same problem.

2. Will manufacturers be allowed to provide a setting to remap the key to Fn? e.g., for people who need one-hand fn-arrowkey combinations more than a right-ctrl or context-menu key.
