Intel's upcoming Panther Lake platform has now appeared in early gaming tests, offering a first glimpse at its integrated graphics performance. A hands-on video from a popular YouTuber shows a Core Ultra X9 388H running inside a Lenovo reference laptop, with several AAA PC games tested at 1200p. The results provide an early indication of what Panther Lake could deliver in future laptops.

When limited to 28W, Arc Graphics 140V and Radeon 890M are on par in energy efficiency.
But:
QuoteIn addition to delivering high performance, Intel has also managed to enhance the efficiency of the Arc Graphics 140V. First, we examined Cyberpunk 2077, which had a huge advantage over other iGPUs, including the Snapdragon GPUs. The lead over the Radeon 890M in the Zenbook S 16 is an impressive 66%.

If Intel's claims^ about Panther Lake's power efficiency are true (that's a big IF), then Intel is going to beat AMD's RDNA3.5 iGPU in power efficiency in every power consumption scenario.

Desktop RDNA4 is only 7-10% more power efficient than desktop RDNA3, so even if AMD releases RDNA4 iGPUs in CES 2027, it's not going to be enough to catch up to Panther Lake?
