Sony claims strong PS5 sales make it the most successful PlayStation console generation

A Sony executive boasted PS5 sales figures that eclipse past PlayStation generations. Profits are also reportedly higher than those of older PlayStation consoles, including the PS4. Even after the PS5 price increase in some regions, Sony is benefiting from consistent hardware and software revenue.

Given that everything is more expensive than ever I'd believe it's the most successful just from a pure profits perspective but there's no way, in terms of users and units sold, that it eclipses the PS2.
