A programmer for a Steam game featuring adult content is in an ongoing dispute with PayPal. The payment processor is allegedly withholding £80,000, claiming the title violates its terms of service. PayPal and credit cards have increasingly restricted marketplaces that sell mature-themed games.

fuckcensorship

we're slowly devolving into the digital puritanical-run dark ages. these types of trad-con groups and people will overlook child marriage, relax age of consent laws, defund social programs like free school lunch and family healthcare subsidies, and let (and fund) kids be blown to bits by guns or bombs across the world (voting for the politicians that allow these policies) claiming moral superiority using a religion or skydaddy in the same breath as saying they are "protecting kids" with these crackdowns. the hypocrisy is maddening yet unsurprising.

It is impossible to use PayPal as a payment method if you're a developer on Steam. Only certified bank ccounts are valid, attempting to use PayPal would be against both PayPal and valve TOS. This has little to do with the adult game censorship.

And here we are, once again, yelling at people for depicting sex while lauding people for depicting violence.

I would love to see what would happen if we restricted payments for games that portrayed realistic violence or use of weapons of war.
