Dawn of war 3 didn't feel like a "mix of 1 and 2," it felt like someone said "you know what's popular right now? DOTA and League of Legends. Let's make an RTS based on that type of an engine." (Ironic since mobas came from wc3 maps)
I stopped playing when my "Greatest warriors in the galaxy" space marine veterans were too stupid to follow their quary into, get this, "tall grass" because "they just disappeared from line of sight." That's when I knew what the game had been designed for. I decided I would rather play anything else than have to micro manage my troops to "keep going after the thing I sent you after" like they were toddlers needing encouragement instead of machines of war.
