Ok, just for kicks - lets discuss the market, funding and income.

While age wise 'gamers' can/could be ANYONE from 'toddlers' to retired folks generally much/most of the 'market' is with younger folks where:

- pre-teenagers generally have ZERO income so all their gaming gear (HW/SW) is ether 'hand down' from older siblings and/or gifted to them from others that have incomes

- teenagers generally may have an income to spend on gaming hardware and/or software however may still rely on items that are gifted to them from others

- young adult/adult/retired adult gamers in these groups may juggle their entertainment budgets between gaming and many other hobbies and interests

While surely a nightmare for those in the industry, "gaming hardware" can be considered like any other "appliance" (IE: washer/dryer, Fridge/Freezer, TV, etc.) and once you have one your all set until it actually stops working OR
some new modern wizzbang game you want to play was ONLY released on some new hardware.

So much like many other modern electronic items, consider the market "built out" and those that wanted devices already have them.
