TCL 2023 Smart S Class new cheaper Google TVs arrive

The TCL 2023 Smart S Class TVs are now available in the US. The lineup includes the S2, S3 and S4 models, ranging in size from 32 to 85-in, starting from US$169.99. The range-topping S4 is a 4K Ultra HD TV with Dolby Vision and Dolby Audio support. All new models run on Google TV OS, with Google Assistant voice commands and Chromecast.

The price is not so bad for the user to utilize this panel in their workout area, kitchen, the shop/garage, etc. but for this display to be placed as a choice towards a home/bedroom entertainment center/hub but these panels still utlizes the great-granddad USB2.0 interface (try decoding Hi-Res/bitrate/lossless compression/raw UHD+ content via that mess)? WTF? Are we still in the early days of the 2000s era? USB2, over 20-years ago, OEMS, just retire that mess already.

Another miss oversight it seems. It appears that the S4 doesn't even support IMAX Enhanced, DOLBY VisionIQ, HDR10+ (Samsung but still it's royalty FREE) or HLG.

I mean... why pay Dolby its asking yearly fees for their top tier product's features just not to add all of Dolby features to their product line?

Oops. I didn't know that it was TWO (or more) back-2-back TCL new products articles/pieces that addressed my concerns here, well, sort of. 2000nit display (oddly, someone is releasing a 3000nit too .. wtf... there's 4000nit content [barely] but NOT 3000nit content) but there's no worthy content at 2000nit (or none at all) on the market today. So unless this OEM has an inside future look from Hollywood/Netflix's production studios future films luminance metrics, etc., this panel, other than for 1000nit content, will be useless for TRUE Dolby Vision (up to 10,000nits) IMAX Enhanced, etc.
