Yuzu, an open-source Nintendo Switch emulator, has been sued by Nintendo. The company claims it encourages piracy by allowing users to "circumvent the technological measures on the Nintendo Switch console" and cites the recent The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom as an example.

Emulator is just a tool, it doesn't come with any pirated games. Pass the responsibility to the users. I don't see guns manufacturers being sued for all the murders committed with their guns, just because the gun encourages you to kill people... Also 'encourage' is a strong word, they are not specifically promoting that... This is such a horrible thin ice, and there was so much said about licensing and 'software ownage' already (to have the ability to play software you own on your own 'tools')... Not talking about 'is the piracy result of people not being able to afford the games because they are expensive, or not being willing to pay for the games...). So many topics it almost feels worse than politics..

they've brought it onto themselves. reverse engineering is legal, but they've started earning money on reverse engineered property and giving users instructions on how to dump keys that are considered nintendo's property by ToS.
