Demanding third-party Switch 2 games are arriving on the console, with sometimes mixed results. Gamescom 2025 attendees worry about how Elden Ring Tarnished Edition will perform on the handheld. In open areas, impressions highlight frame rates that plummet well below 30 fps.

If it runs Crisis... I mean CP2077, well, it's clearly not the hardware; and Nintendo and its 3rd-party devs needs to get their act together... fast.

Switch 2 is roughly equivalent to a 1050. Elden Ring recommends a 1070. That's a pretty substantial difference.

Says who? NVIDIA? Ofc, not. First, that makes no sense. 2nd, that unconfirmed nonsense seems like it's from an AMD shill/hater. 3rd, that's two completely different architectures. 4th... well, I think... you get it, now. 😏

Japanese devs tend to be a bit behind when it comes to adopting newer more modern technologies, which maybe a factor.

CP2077 is heavily optimized by Nvidia who have world class devs, so that's not really comparable.

How tho? Last I heard Nintendo are barely giving 3rd party devs any devkits

Hence, Nintendo needs to get its act together... IOW... not walk, but Nintendo needs to fly to its devs doorsteps... with everything that their 3rd-party devs needs to bring their platform up to modern standards performance; even if it requires Nintendo to have an special envoy from Nintendo to assist these devs, personally, around the clock if necessary.

I don't care either way, though. I'm beyond that of portable trend nonsense consoles generation; 100% only desktop games; I am a techie, though and I just despise inferior decisions and mindsets.

Lol, why did they go through with it? It's not like they're some 7th grade kid that started working on a project he had 6 weeks to do the night before.

Just apologize and sit it out

Elden Ring runs fine with 30 fps, 1080p, medium settings on a gtx 1050 (non-Ti).

Looking at the specs of the Switch 2, I'd assume the ARM CPU is the problem. Also note that games running on ARM often had inconsistent results in gaming in the past. Yet again shows that you're still better off with Intel or AMD.
