The largest Apple smartphone is bulky and heavy, but offers a super-bright 6.7-inch LTPO display, a fast processor and, above all, a much larger battery than the smaller Pro model, but uses the same 48 MP triple camera. Read our review to find out whether this justifies the steep surcharge.

Constant flickering = no buy.
I'll stick with my "flicker-free" iPhon11 (basic model with LCD screen) a little longer.

The PWM issue is killing all my joy for modern tech and has me questioning why I stick with Apple. I want a flagship phone but instead have to settle for mid tier LCD phones with low resolution and PPI.

Hey, this is the rule of the game right now, no company can afford to implement DC Dimming because it will gimp down the visual experience and make their device less attractive against Samsung devices.
At least with the Apple you can be sure that you will be first when pwm-less miniledsmth comes out. And this time can't come soon enough.

In almost all reviews, except for this site and a couple of others, the topic of flicker is deliberately bypassed and specifically assures the public that AMOLED screens are much better, emphasizing that they have "super" black (as if there is some sense in daylight or in office or home lighting), good viewing angles (and this is actually a half-truth - they turn green at an angle, for example, many top Samsung models, although, for example, the A series does not have this effect) and minimal response. Unfortunately, the harm that AMOLEDs cause to the eyes and nervous system wears away health very slowly and imperceptibly, allowing the majority of the population not to notice it for quite a long time (and then, when problems begin, it is difficult to associate problems with AMOLED flickering).

In terms of long-term smartphone screen reading, IPS panels have been the best screens ever. And in complete darkness, even more so, IPS rule, because. there, usually the flickering of AMOLED is even stronger at low brightness.

Well, the majority of the population are themselves evil Pinocchio. The flag is in their hands. But a small part of the population that understands these problems, alas, can no longer change this.

Pwm is huge issue for me as well. Ihad to sell several Great phones because of eyestrains, headaches (S21ultra, iPhone xs) and used iphone Xr ->iphone 11.

Last year had apple great lineup for pwm sensitive people. Iphone 13 with pwm frequency above 600hz and iphone 13 pro around 500hz if you put brightness above 20%. I decided to risk it and buy 13 pro and I have NO issue if I keep brightness above 20%. If I am reading books during night I put combo Brightness 30% and "Reduce White Point" accessibility feature.
Highly recommend this approach !!!

Why torture yourself like this? If you have money for an iPhone Pro, can't you buy at least 7.8" ONYX BOOX Kon-Tiki 2, which costs more than 4 times cheaper? nicer on e-ink. Although reading in the dark is generally wrong.

And most importantly, if we are talking about the house, in bed - there is such a thing as a "clean zone". I will never pick up a dirty smartphone from the street in my hands in bed (and this has nothing to do with the fears of some kind of "covid" scam, we are talking about elementary household cleanliness). To do this, I always have clean devices for the "clean zone". Or do you every time, after a shower, with clean hands, take a dirty smartphone smeared with prints from the street without sanitizing? And processing is tiring every day...

You fakers complaining about PWM are so silly. Your issues are probably caused by staring at ANY screen for too long, nothing to do with OLED or PWM displays.

Look out, we got an expert!

If it doesn't bother you what do you care? Clearly, you know nothing of how this type of display affects some people. I stare at screens all day for work, no issues and no headaches. Using an OLED iPhone for a few hours = full-blown migraine.

It should be noted that the 12 month warranty issue is not in the EU, where you get 24 months of warranty.
