The world's largest EV battery maker CATL tipped that it is ready to launch its unicorn of a prismatic cell that has a higher energy density than Tesla's game-changing 4680 battery. CATL's Kirin battery does so by using the chemistry and footprint of Tesla's 4680 cell.

13% change almost nothing. Batteries need to have twice the current energy density.

Battery tech is rapidly evolving, in much the same way that computers were in the 1980s. To compare items announced 2 years ago with the more recently announced is valuable only in showing the rapid evolution. Due to this too many articles about batteries are just CLICK-BAIT.
