I feel this is still the better device, assuming no as yet unknown corners cut. Faster storage, more RAM, no cutout, better back design, better telephoto, headphone jack...perhaps this price is testament to its quality and in fact no corners are cut?

No laser autofocus, still usb 2.0 (certainly without alternate display port mode), 60hz

They're are certainly small corners to complain about but they would have made this phone perfect for me (other than the fact it comes with miui, lineage or pixel experience should come out soon enough to fix it).

At least it has NFC, as opposed to the new Moto g stylus

USB2.0...yes, to me that's the most conspicuous.

Thing is if that rumoured RRP pans out and goes head to head against Apple's upcoming iPhone SE "Plus" (5.5" variant) then well... they're making it way too easy for Apple...more RAM or faster storage be damned.

Even worse if Apple manages to undercut them somehow.I sure as hell would jump to the dark side if that's gonna happen.

Android is not the problem but MIUI is. Ergo the need for that RAM headroom to float the bloat. In before anyone thinks that I don't know what I'm talking about, a current Redmi 3S Prime user here since Redmi 3 (ido) so I've suffered enough up till MIUI 9 till I unlocked the bootloader and nuke paved it to custom ROMs instead.
