Post by: Redaktion on July 25, 2019, 19:32:32
With up to 60 auto-focus (AF) or auto-exposure (AE) calculations per second and 20fps shooting, Sony claims to have packed flagship speeds into its latest compact camera. The RX100 VII has a 20.1MP Exmor RS sensor and the latest generation BIONZ X image processor. It also has native 4K recording and real-time Eye AF capabilities.

Crikey, these have gotten expensive. I know the technical ability is likely higher and the picture quality is probably also higher, but this isn't far off of 2x the cost of my RX 100 III.

I also agree, microUSB in 2019 is wild. I'd bet it still comes with a microHDMI port still, too.

Agreed. The first RX 100 launched at $500 USD. They've crept up the price every year with minor upgrades. Now it's $1200. Still a 1 inch sensor, isn't it?

The market for these things is also smaller than it was a decade ago, so the companies that still bother in releasing them must price them higher to at least get even... and I am not counting inflation.
