Lenovo currently has two variants of the ThinkPad E590 in its product range; both use Intel CPUs, but one has a dedicated AMD graphics card, while the other comes with integrated Intel UHD graphics. With the E595, Lenovo has now completely opted for AMD for the CPU and GPU. In addition, the manufacturer has improved on some points of criticism. Will the E595 become the best ThinkPad E?

This laptop does not have HDMI 1.4b, but 100% have HDMI 2.0b with HDR suypport, becuase inside Ryzen with VEGA graphics, natively support 2.0b!
Thus, this laptop, unlike the shameful version with Intel CPU, is capable of displaying a picture simultaneously on two external monitors in 4k@60Hz mode and is capable of transmitting video with HDR to TV/projectors/monitors with HDR support!
It changes everything! Versions with Intel CPU are shameful and not worth the money!
usb-c for E580/590/595 output 4k@60Hz with this adapter+power AC in, it tested and work perfectly:

It seems like you have USB-C Dock station + 2 external monitors. That is use case i'm most intrested in. Is integrated monitor stil working when you have external monitors connected (you get 2+1 screens), or you need to disable / mirror integrated screen when using two external screens (you get 2+0/Mirror screen) ?
Pretty sure you compared the standard setup (E595 with single channel RAM and HP 14 with dual channel RAM) - hence the weaker GPU performance on the E595. So with a dual channel setup, the E595 with its well-tuned CPU should beat the HP 14 in overall performance.
Hi, we made a mistake with the RAM specs. The ThinkPad E595 has two memory slots and can support up to 64 GB RAM. It is therefore pretty easy to upgrade the RAM if you want to utilize the full potential of the iGPU.
Yes, we usually compare the laptops as we get them (and also as the customers will do), so there can be differences when it comes to the GPU performance for Vega iGPUs. It is unfortunate that some manufacturers like Lenovo do not ship their AMD systems with dual-channel memory configurations by default, so every user could benefit from the improved performance.
So I just got my E595 a coupe of days ago though in the 3500U version.
8GB RAM, RTL8822BE wifi card, 256GB SSD
I haven't owned a Thinkpad before but so far, it's proven to be better than I expected!
Some drawbacks which caught me offguard:
1. After using the laptop for a couple of hours and not noticing it, I then moved closer to the laptop and heard coil whine-like noises on the upper left part, not sure which component is producing it though. But when I added a 500GB HDD to it, it all suddenly stopped, no more coil-whine! I then tried to put the HDD into standby and suddenly the coil-whine noises came back again.
So my take: Apparently, the current or voltage balance on the board is off without an HDD attached. Even just putting the HDD into standby will make the noise come back - you need that extra drainer to balance it out.
2. The heat development near the hinges and backside where the CPU is located is quite significant, much more than my older laptop which got an Intel i7 and a dedicated GPU. It makes working in summer a bit more difficult.
3. The fan turns on more frequently the longer you work on the laptop since the heat builds up and cools down slowly. Heat dissappation of the E595 after shutdown is also a bit slower than what I experienced with other laptops.
4. I swapped out the RTL8822BE card with the Intel AC 9260 one. It was cheap and a lot of people complained about the Realtek card not working properly or being slow. Lenovo does whitelisting but the Intel one is compatible with the E595.

I've expanded RAM to 32 GB Kingston hyperx 2666 MHz (that's slight overkill - cpu use only 2400 MHz) and launched passmark before and after memory upgrade.
PASSMARK(TOTAL); CPU MARK; 2D MARK; 3D MARK; MEMORY MARK;
Single channel results: (2798;7954;463;1231;1385;10359)
Dual channel results: (3245;9165;465;2036;1679;10560)
That's 68% of additional 3D performance on dual channel for 3500U. In 3700U diffrence should be even biger.
Coil whine-like noise - I have only NVME drive but i haven't heard anythink like that. Maybe i'm deaf ;)
Heat development - true. It won't burn you instantly but you defienietly don't want to keep it under full load on top of your lap for a long time.
Under normal load e595 is comfortably cool.
Overall - i'm happy with purchuase.
Comparing Apples to Pears is not useful. Put Dual Channel Ram in it and redo your tests.

i am considering buying thinkpad e595 for home use. for my needs the amd 3500 with vega 8 is enough. you have reviewed the amd 3700. will the graphic card vega 8 or the other configurations will have any influence on the display quality such as brightness or color coverage.
