Cheers for the insult, but have you used a Killer AC in an XPS? There are countless threads online about how spotty it is. Personally, the one in my XPS 15 had awful reception and connection issues. So, I switched it to an Intel equivalent and never looked back.
Are you not bothered by soldered on RAM or SSDs by any chance?

Still doubtful Dell will ship this by early August, even if they do, numbers probably will be limited. There had to be reason why the July date was moved to August, and if that issue is not solved, then the date can easily slip back to who knows when.
The article is spot on. The new inventions around cooling might be quite helpful in terms of reducing thermal throttle. However, the soldered SSD, RAM, etc. remain a NO GO.

I agree. All of that engineering effort wasted on a laptop with soldered SSD. Soldered RAM, I could almost live with. Almost. Soldered SSD, get out of here.
I definitely want to see better cooling from dell, but this solidered nonsense is annoying, especially the ssd. That is the definition of planned obsoluteness. They better give a lifetime warranty on that SSD...

There are plenty of reasons to care about soldiered wifi.
1) You can usually get crappy wifi chip onboard and buy a better one at half price.
2) Some wifi chips come with built-in 4g/5g, so rather than carrying around a dongle and wasting a usb port, it is better to just swap the wifi chip.
3) Newer wifi can have better speeds, lower latency and lower power consumption.
4) The wifi chip brand isn't an option
I agree: soldered SSD is a turn-off. When the HD in my Dell laptop died, I could extract it and recover the data, then replace the HD by an SSD. Then, later, when the laptop died, I could extract the SSD and put it in a desktop case, thus conserving all the data. If the HD or SSD had been soldered, getting my data back would have been difficult and prohibitively expensive.
Does anyone at dell and other companies ever read tech magazines and comments from people actually buying their products?
We don't want soldered RAM SSD wifi and other components that could be easily replaced by a tech / the owner!!
It's as simple as that.
I own 3 xps myself and Dell always merged beauty and style with performance and ease of maintenance. This is and has always been a major feature that they should underline, and not move away from.
If they do, time to move away from dell
