HP is currently running a sale on the numerous business and consumer laptops until May 5. One of the highlights is the EliteBook x360 1040 G5, which the company has reduced by up to US$2,009. The Chromebook x360 14 G1 is another good deal too with US$600 off its retail price.

The original price was ridiculous
This IS the original price. That's how it is with all high-end business laptops.
I've been watching the EliteBook x360 1040 since last December, and the price has been constant starting at $1,600.
The REAL discount usually occurs once or twice 5 months after the release, then finally again nearing the processor refresh cycle. Which means the real first discount for HP's Q12019 should appear at the end of June, concurrent with the Back to School season.
This isn't it, at least not for select high-end laptops.
