Title: Microsoft Surface Pro 6 (2018) (i5, 128 GB, 8 GB) Convertible Review

The i5 model without a fan is slower than the i7 model, and its battery life is not much better. In return, it is completely silent and significantly cheaper. Is this the mainstream tablet for everyone?

My first thought was "A fanless 8250?  Does it fry eggs?"   I haven't come across one yet that can handle having a dozen tabs open in Chrome without a fan cranking up.   So.. bring on the 15" fanless laptops.   If Microsoft can do this with a sealed unit and not have it get super hot, then why can't Asus/Acer/HP, etc put out fanless 15" ultrabooks?

I don't want a tablet.   I want an ultrabook with a matte screen (and no numpad) in the 15" size range, and 1 kg weight range (2.1 lbs).   I thought I might have to wait for the i7-8500Y processors to make it to the main stream, but apparently an underclocked(?) 8250u can be a silent machine today.

And as a reminder to the manufacturers:
Glossy screens are bad in all circumstances - but a necessary EVIL on touchpads.  Just keep laptops MATTE.

Fan noise = BAD at all times.

Lighter weight is much more important than bezels being 1mm thinner.

@Jesse

I was also searching for the exact same thing a few months back, a high-end lightweight 15" laptop when I discovered the 15" Samsung Notebook 9.

1.3 kg, 8th gen U-CPU, MX150 dGPU, 75 Wh battery, FHD 500nits (glossy, but solved using matte screen protector). I believe NBC has a review on it.

Eventually I went with LG Gram due to the soldered RAM and lack of touchscreen. Hopefully those are not deal breakers for you, because otherwise it was close to perfect for me.
