Title: Microsoft Surface Pro 6 (2018) (i7, 512GB, 16GB) Convertible Review
Post by: Redaktion on October 30, 2018, 13:16:55
Microsoft has updated to the Surface Pro series with quad-core Kaby Lake Refresh processors, but how well will these chips cope within an 8.5 mm thick tablet? Will these more powerful processors affect battery life, and has Microsoft finally added more ports? Find out all this and more in our detailed review.

Any news on the X1 tablet? And also any undervolting the Surface pro 6?

It has been hard weighing up between this and the X1 Carbon as I end up mostly using my surface 3 as a laptop.

Although I went with the surface pro i7 512GB as it was down to £1494 on Amazon with two copies of office for £30+£40 respectively and type cover £88, I can still return it.

What do you guys think?

@Chrisah:
Thinkpad X1T3 is twice as expensive with half the battery life of the SP6.

At this point you could consider WoS laptops like Lenovo C630 or Samsung GB2 just for the convenience of all-day battery life and LTE connectivity.

For performance, the closest serviceable alternative to the SP6 would be a refurbished Latitude 5290.

I'm pretty sure the X1 Carbon is a completely different beast and not really comparable to the others.

Hello do you know whether the 1TB SSD is in fact two.512GB SSDs and if so what are the negatives if any?

You do not mention any sign of LTE.   This is so important these days so you can connect whilst out on the road and get your emails or WhatsApp messages.
You do mention issues with the USB and one comment to this is that a number of external disk drives now require 2 x USB ports.   You can get round this by using a 4 into 1 splitter and this works well with my LG optical drive but it does limit the power when using the MS flat Mouse (needs another USB and if you connect to a scanner or USB printer.

here's a little typo for you ;)
Curiously, the Black version with 16 GB RAM is currently only available with a 512 TB SSD

thanks for the article, I thought it would say more about it's graphics capabilities but I guess the info is there...if I could just decipher it.
