What I'd really like to know is if the wifi will still work even if the computer is at a distance from the router and whether the keyboard is capable of handling common short cuts in applications (ctrl +shift + up key for example) and whether you can hold down the space bar and click and drag at the same time (how you move around a zoomed in image in Photoshop) .

On the basis of a review here I bought an Aorus X7 v7 for £2400 and it could not perform these basic actions. I understand that in 2018 these thing should be taken for granted. But I almost wasted £2400 on a computer that was useless in a practical sense because it could not connect to wifi or handle keyboard shortcuts. Thankfully I could get my money back.

But it would be nice if notebookcheck would start confirming in their reviews that laptops are capable of basic wifi connectivity at a real world distance from a router and if the keyboard and touch pad are able to be used in a fully functional way with common applications (or else if this was an oversight specific only to the Aorus X7 v7 review that that review is updated accordingly with a warning that the wifi and keyboard are extremely limited so other people do not throw away £2400 of their hard earnew money)

I am surprised to hear that a 2400-pound laptop cannot handle shortcuts (though I did not understand your spacebar concern). Wifi problems are more common but that does not necessarily mean that the laptop was malfunctioning. In any case, there are too much unknowns to perform a systematic testing: what shortcuts? what OS? what application? what version? what distance to the router? what router model and what wifi settings? MIMO? signal shaping?

I am also pretty sure that if I would've found myself in your situation, I would be able to sort these "problems" out without returning the device. BTW, a new Intel M.2 WiFi adapter costs around 20$, if it was the cause.

Keyboard shortcut and macro issues on the Aorus X7 is a much bigger problem that affects Gigabyte's all new laptops with their RGB keyboard since early 2017 - Aero, Aorus and Phantasus (P-series). This hardware issue unfortunately has not been confirmed to be fully resolved.

Using keyboard and touchpad at the same time is a function that some laptops have and others don't. For instance I've used some Thinkpads and Clevo gaming laptops in the past and neither lineups supported it which was quite frustrating (although on thinkpads it works with trackpoint). In the future you contact the manufacturer and ask for clarification before purchase.

As for the wifi, Killer Wireless have always had reliability issues as far as H/S integration goes. Though you can fix it with the right drivers and settings tweak, I simply recommend replacing it with the most recent Intel card - now 9260. Hope this helps.

Hi! I was just wondering...would an external fan solve the thermal issue to sustain load for longer periods of time? I really like this notebook, but I expect to put it under high loads...my other option is the Lenovo, but the 8gb ram scares me a bit because given my job, I might need 16gb...

I would seriously suggest anybody that buys this laptop, to buy also extended warranty since my broke in 13 month (after 12 month warranty expired). It has been taken to authorized service center, where they found our that motherboard is defective, they written to me that it is "consequence of normal use" That will cost me, if I decide to fix it, 740€. I have done some research in internet and found out that this is not a lonely case. The most concerning thing is that HP sends me replay that this is "normal"!!

Extended warranty can be bought backdating. HP and Dell so allow.

When you change resolution to 4K the noise level of fans when is terrible, like work with a vacuum cleaner.

I do not see the point of buying a laptop that works like a vacuum cleaner.
