Title: AMD's Polaris Architecture

Polaris is the name of the 4th generation of the GCN architecture from AMD. It was launched in mid-2016 with two chips. They are processed in 14 nm FinFET and are ready for the latest technologies such as DirectX 12, DisplayPort 1.4, HDR, and HVEC. In the following article, we will cover what is new in this architecture and describe the two chips in detail.

Polaris 12 is also available with 2200 millions transistors, 101 mm2 and max. 640 cores.

Improved Polaris 20 and 21 are since June 2017 available.
