The Autor, Florian Wimmer is wrong. The display resolution of G Pad V500 is 1920 x 1200 pixels, not 1920 x 1080. Thus the aspect ratio of the V500 is the usual 16:10 for Android tablets, not 16:9. I actually measured the active area of the LCD panel being 18 x 11,25 cm, which is exactly 16:10 aspect. Strangely, only Windows 8 based tablets use 16:9 format, thus conforming to the widescreen TV sets and TV movie production formats. Android world still tends to cling. to the 16:10. This format was previously used in PC graphics adapters and monitors until about 2007, and was replaced by 16:9 since then.
The screen is not too dark. The algorithm that auto-adjusts is off. Just download one of the many screen brightness controller apps to override it and you're good to go. I cranked up the brightness to 100% and took it out into direct sun at noon on a 90-degree day and I could still read the screen.
